We want to be loved by our friends and family, our acquaintances and colleagues.
As Muslims, we want to be loved by Allah SWT of course, but did you know that if Allah SWT loves you, that actually leads to the angels loving you, and even the human beings loving you too. This all stems from the love of Allah SWT.
Don’t believe me? Check out this hadith:
On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
When Allah SWT has loved a servant of His He calls Gabriel PBUH and says, “I love So-and-so, therefore love him.” The Prophet PBUH said, “So Gabriel loves him” Then Gabriel calls out in heaven, saying, “Allah loves So-and-so, therefore love him” And the inhabitants of heaven love him. The Prophet PBUH said, “Then acceptance is established for him on earth”
And if Allah has abhorred a servant of His, He calls Gabriel and says: I abhor So-and-so, therefore abhor him. So Gabriel abhors him. Then Gabriel calls out to the inhabitants of heaven, “Allah abhors So-and-so, therefore abhor him” The Prophet PBUH said, “So they abhor him, and abhorrence is established for him on earth”
It was related by Muslims and also by al-Bukhari, Malik, and at-Tirmidhi.
So you see, if we focus on gaining the love of Allah SWT, then all the other pieces of the puzzle fall into place.
If we plan for it and work for it, the love of Allah SWT is actually available for everyone. Allah SWT will never turn you away if you’re working and sweating to earn that love from Him. Allah SWT doesn’t play favorites. Anyone who puts in the effort with a sincere heart can definitely earn that love from Allah SWT.

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“…My servant draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it…”

So the actions that Allah SWT loves the most, are the things He has made compulsory (the 5 pillars of Islam) and to be loved by Allah SWT, we need to do all the compulsory things, but also to increase that and do more of them in a voluntary way.
Of course, this includes the compulsory 2.5% for Zakat and then donating even more in a voluntary way. Click here to see more!
May Allah SWT enable us all to obtain His love in sha Allah
