MATW PROJECT

Imagine living on just $6 a day!

As-salam wa-alaikum MATW Family!

Since becoming involved with MATW Project, I have said many times that one day we hope to be in every country, helping anyone who needs help, feeding the hungry, caring for the orphans, and spreading the message of Islam through Dawa.

Alhamdulillah MATW Project has achieved a new milestone now, by expanding into Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is a tiny country that is not much bigger than England, but where England has 55 Million people, Bangladesh has some 160 million people in it. This makes Bangladesh one of the most densely populated places in the world. The average income in Bangladesh is just $178 US dollars per month! That’s just $6 a day to live on. My local café sells a large cappuccino for that much.

It’s amazing to think that my morning coffee is a whole day’s wage for someone else trying to survive. Allah SWT multiplies the rewards for people who follow through with their good deeds. Check out this hadith below:

On the authority of the son of Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), among the sayings he related from his Lord (glorified and exalted be He) is that He said:

Allah has written down the good deeds and the bad ones. Then He explained it [by saying that] he who has intended a good deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as from ten good deeds to seven hundred times or many times over. But if he has intended a bad deed and has not done it, Allah writes it down with Himself as a full good deed, but if he has intended it and has done it, Allah writes it down as one bad deed. It was related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

For every good deed, Allah SWT has promised that you will get a minimum of 10 “Hasanaat” or good deeds are written down for you. Click here for easy Hasanaat!

If you think that’s generous, have a look at this verse below from the Quran:

“The likeness of (the ones) who expend their riches in the way of Allah is as the likeness of a grain that grows seven ears, in every ear a hundred grains. And Allah gives manifoldly to whomever He decides; and Allah is Ever-Embracing, Ever-Knowing” [Quran 2:261]

This verse points us to the fact that the reward for giving in charity is like one grain that grows an ear of corn, that has within it another 700 new pieces of grain. This is an example that Allah SWT uses to explain to us that He gives 700 times the reward for every dollar you spend. Subhan Allah! Of course, Allah SWT is the most generous.
